Happy New Year

Hello everyone,

For my last post for Katzelkraft this year, I have made a New Year Card. With this card I'd like to say Happy New Year to you and thank you for all your support over the last year.

I started with printing the lyrics of Abba's Happy New Year onto a piece of pattern paper and then stamped Happy New Year.
Next I stamped this little fellow, who is my favourite by the way, and the clock and coloured both with Copic Markers. I cut him and his clock out and adhered them onto the card panel. I also inked the edges slightly with Distress Ink in the colour Pumice Stone.

I have used three sets for this card:

Today at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio inspiration I have made a tag and a mini journal page.

This tag has a very subtle pattern on it. This came from the inside of a Christmas card that was sent to us last year. The pattern was on the inside of the card and I liked it. So I used it today for my tag. I inked the edges with Distress Oxide ink and then added some doodling. I cut out the presents from the Holiday Collage sheet and adhered them onto the tag after putting down some washi tape. The sentiment is from the Giftbag set and was inked with the same Distress Oxide. A ribbon finished it off.
You'll find the Holiday Collage sheet HERE.

Next I made this small journal page.

I found this piece of paper in my stash, I think I sprayed ink through it for a project and then used the left over ink on the stencil as a stamp if you like. I added some washi tape, and then coloured Matilda 2019. I added a little bit of stamping and then put down the sentiment which is from Matilda 2018.

You'll find Matilda HERE.

Thank you 2018

Hello everyone,

This week I am sidekick in the ALAD (a layer a day) challenge over at France Papillon & Creative Butterflies FB page. If you'd like to play along with us then please read THIS. The theme this week is 'Thank you 2018'. As somebody that is always somewhat sad in the wintertime you can imagine that I was really grateful for the fantastic summer we have had. I can only hope we'll get one just like it in 2019. Anyway, I decided to use that thought in my art journal spread and here it is :

I love how this turned out. Here's how:

Layer 1: I painted the pages (that were gessoed) with a mix of these three paints: DecoArt Chalky Finish 'Delicate', DecoArt Fluid Acrylics 'Primary yellow' and 'Diarylide yellow'. I made sure to keep the middle light and go slightly darker at the edges. Summer in a journal straight away !

Layer 2: I used pieces of Tim Holtz Collage paper, which I gessoed on the back to keep the flowers white, and glued them down with DecoArt Matte Medium. Once dry I coloured them with Faber Castell Big Brush Markers and a water brush.

Layer 3: I stamped the background along the edges using France's stamp sets '1800' and 'How shall I put it'. I used Archival Inks in the colours 'Saffron', 'Orange Blossom' and 'Jet Black' for this.

Layer 4: this was a very quick layer; I just added some model paste through France's stencil 'Driving me circles'.

Layer 5: White splatters, done with a white paint pen and black splatters using thinned down DecoArt Fluid Acrylic 'Carbon Black'.

Layer 6: Here I doodled around the edges and did some writing around the model paste circles. I am not sure I like this. My handwriting is not the best !

Layer 7: I added some words that describe the Summer of 2018. I layered the word strips on some cambric. I think this page really represents warmth, flowers, Summer !

A couple of close up photos.

Wierdo !

Hello everyone,

For AALL & Create I have decorated a small canvas for today. It measures approx 4 x 4 inches.

Every time I looked through my stash of lovely AALL & Create products, this little guy was looking at me asking to be used in a project. And this time I couldn't resist. I think it is good to revisit older stash occasionally. Anyway I really enjoyed making this, as always, and here it how I did it :

Here is a picture of all the products I have used for this. The canvas is one of those cheap ones you buy in the dollar store. I do find they are usually not as good as the ones from the art store though. So I probably spend a little more next time and buy decent ones.

The first thing I did was making 'washi' tape. I used ordinary masking tape; the stuff you use when painting your house. I tore a piece off and stamped it with this fabulous and versatile stamp set by Aida Domisiewicz. I use this set a lot, mostly for background stamping. I used Archival Inks for this because they are permanent once dry. It takes a little while to dry though so be patient !

Next I painted the canvas with acrylic paint. I used a light blue and a white to get it a little lighter in the middle. Next I used Distress Oxide Ink and this stencil by Autour de Mwa to add some interest. I smoosh the ink pad onto the stencil, spritz it with water and then use it as a stamp.

Next I did some background stamping, again with this set by Aida.

The next thing I did was adding some of my home made washi tape. I was very pleased with it and I might make some more in different colours ! (As if I have not enough washi tape!)

I then added some green paint with my fingers, just here and there and some stamping with pink ink and this stamps by Olga Heldwein.

I then stamped this little monster that comes with different faces ! So fun ! I also stamped the balloon  from set #51 by Olga, three times and then coloured the lot with Copic Markers. I then cut everything out.

This is the finished canvas. I also added some modelling paste with the same stencil, put my monster on a circle of book pages to make him stand out more and added some doodling. The balloons were put down with some dimensional tape and I added sewing thread for the string. The sentiment came from the same set as the monster and was stamped on the edge of the book paper I cut the circle from. This way all the paper is the same colour.

Here are some close-ups.

Here he is again together with all the bits that 'made' him ! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and have a go yourself at making something different. It is fun !

Thank you so much for having a look today ! I wish you and your families a Merry Christmas !

Keep calm again....

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blogpost for Katzelkraft. It is almost Christmas so I thought I'd make another Christmas themed project. I have made a postcard.

I started with stamping the Reindeer and the little man. I did mask off his hat/head so that I didn't have to glue the hat on. I coloured the reindeer and the little man and then cut them all out. Next I painted the postcard panel (6"x4") and heat embossed the rings with the stars on it. I then glued everything in place and added the sentiment.

I used the following stamps:

KTZ159 - Noël Keep calm
KTZ119 - Les DrĂ´les d'accessoires
KTZ212 - Les Pabos Aviateur
Solo 102 - Christmas Gangnam style

So very merry !

Hello everyone,

Today I have made a postcard and an ATC with the lovely Treena by Vera Lane Studio.
She is fabulous to use for your Christmas cards if not this year then next year ! I decide every year to start making Christmas cards just after Christmas but I never do and every year it is a little bit of a race to get them all done.

This postcard was made with a gel print. I added some collage with pattern paper and washi tape and heat embossed some little stars. Little Treena was printed, coloured and cut out. I adhered her and the sentiment from the same set to the postcard.

This Treena is upside down because she had too much eggnog or sherry ! Or both ! lol
I printed her, coloured her and cut her out and adhered her to this ATC which is a piece of gelli print.

You'll find little Treena HERE

Keep calm and wait for Christmas

Hello everyone,

For today's Katzelkraft inspiration I have made a Christmas card. The photos are taken at an angle because I wanted to capture all the gold. I just couldn't make it work with a straight on photo. There is gold paint in the gelli print and all the embossing is done with golden powder.

As mentioned I used a gelli print from my stash. This one had red, light blue and gold paint on it and I have been waiting to use it because I thought is was a really nice print. Anyway, I stamped the swirl with VersaMark and heat embossed it with gold powder; I also dipped the edges of the card in the ink pad and embossed them too. Next I stamped the angel on the card and on a piece of white card stock. I coloured him with Copic Markers and cut him out without his halo. I used a VersaMark pen to colour the halo on the card panel and heat embossed that too with gold powder. Lastly I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed the edges. Everything was then glued onto the panel and the panel stuck onto a white card base.

I have used these stamps:

The most wonderful time

Hello everyone,

For today's Vera Lane Studio inspiration I have made an AJ spread and an ATC.

The pages in this book were coloured with Distress Crayons. I hardly ever use these anymore so I thought to get them out today. I like the result. I also added a tiny bit of stamping around the edges and drew some lines. With a stencil and Distress Oxide Ink I added the stars. Next I printed the Holiday Monster girl and the Calm and bright girl. I coloured the monster and the tree of the Calm and bright girl, cut them both out and adhered them onto the page after adding some washi tape for her to stand on. Isn't she cute ! The sentiment I have used is from the set "trees'.

This ATC was made with a background I had already lying around. It was made with Brusho powders and a rubber stamp. I printed this monster, coloured him and cut him out. The blending is a little iffy as one of my markers went all sticky. They do that sometimes and you have to clean the tip; if that doesn't work you'll have to replace it.
Anyway, I adhered him to the atc on top of some washi tape and added a Tim Holtz snarky sticker.

You'll find him with his sister in a bundle, link up top...

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing my second post for the "Christmas" Challenge over at Country View Challenges. I decided to go a little different today and deviate from the traditional colours. I have made a mini Art Journal page. You can still play along with us and might win a £20 voucher for the shop if you win ! Just read the rules before playing !

And here's how:

I started with a mini Moleskine watercolour journal. I glued a piece of dictionary paper over my page.

Next I added a layer of gesso and then coloured the page with Distress Oxide Inks.

I added one of the sentiment stamps of this PaperArtsy set as a background stamp with Distress Oxide Ink.

Next, I stamped Father Christmas on the page and on a piece of watercolour paper. I watercolored the one on the white paper and cut him out.

Cute in blue, don't you think ?

And this is the end result. I used some washi tape for him to stand on and added the Ho! Ho! Ho! sentiment from the same stamp set which I also painted with watercolours.

Thank you so much for stopping by today !
